When all else fails…blame the gays

Bishop Kirill is one of the most influential figures in the Russian Orthodox Church and it was reported this week that during a sermon last Sunday he blamed the gays for the war in Ukraine.

First of all, a country will know when it’s under attack by the gay army when tanks with penises replacing cannons following a drag queen on a horse carrying a boom box playing club music and surrounded by buff soldiers in stylish, custom designed uniforms is marching down their streets. If that sounds like a gay pride parade, well that’s exactly what Kirill is complaining about.

Danielle Ong writing for International Business Times reports that; [during a sermon last Sunday, Russian Orthodox bishop Kirill said the conflict in Donbas, Ukraine, was the result of liberal forces giving a “test for the loyalty” by seeing whether separatists in the region were willing to join “gay pride parades”. He claimed that anyone who resisted the demand was met with force.]

Ong goes on to quote Kirill, “In order to enter the club of those countries, it is necessary to hold a gay pride parade. Not to make a political statement, not to sign any agreements, but to hold a gay pride parade. And we know how people resist these demands and how this resistance is suppressed by force.”

Besides the fact that this ridiculousness is blatantly false, of course what he is really saying is; it is the liberal democracy’s fault for being attacked by the neighboring authoritarian, conservative, homophobic and presumably racist regime. This makes Putin sound more like the violent spouse in an abusive relationship than a world leader. It is, unfortunately, quite common for the abuser to the blame the victims for what is happening to them.

Putin’s War on Gays

Moreover, it’s not a stretch for Russia to make such an outlandish claim, since Putin all but declared war on the gay population several years ago after learning that among the country’s’ top ten exports right behind energy, aluminum, caviar, and vodka was porn-and not just any porn, specifically gay porn.

This got the macho man’s nipples in such a twist that he outlawed anything promoting homosexuality in the country, putting a target on gay bars and all but shutting down the porn industry not to mention sending gays scrambling to leave before he outlawed being gay altogether.

Crazy Comes in all Shapes

Sadly, the religious rights’ warped opinions of the situation are not restricted to the Russian Orthodox Church, as What’s Up Today reports; Televangelist and The 500 Club fossil Pat Robertson said this week, “I think you can say, well, Putin’s out of his mind. Yes, maybe so. But at the same time, he’s being compelled by God. He went into the Ukraine, but that wasn’t his goal. His goal was to move against Israel, ultimately.”

He went on to cite verses from the book of Ezekiel that notes how nations will come together to rise up against Israel, which had Robertson suggesting that Ukraine is merely a staging ground for an eventual Armageddon battle, telling us, “God is getting ready to do something amazing. And that will be fulfilled.”

First, why is the world still “praying” and/or “celebrating” the possibility of an Armageddon war on Israel?

Second, aside from the fact that Zelenskiy is Jewish, is the war really going to be waged by way of Ukraine? Somebody needs to get this guy a map.

Third, hasn’t the world outgrown holy wars by now? Isn’t it time we stopped killing innocent people in the name of God?

Fourth, and most importantly, when you look into Putin’s eyes, do you really see the soul of a man who gives a rats’ ass what a deity thinks or worse yet is taking orders from him?

The Real Reason for War

Putin has laid out three conditions for the end of his siege.

1. Ukraine must cease trying to join NATO or the EU, which Zelenskiy has already seemingly agreed to.

2. That Crimea be recognized as part of Russia, which I thought it already had, following the 2015 take over, since Russia has a naval base there and not just any base, its’ flagship submarine base and I don’t see Zelenskiy trying to oust them anytime soon.

3. That the Donbass region becomes autonomous. This is naturally the biggest sticking point for Ukraine as it further carves out another portion of the country that will ultimately be part of Russia as there will never be autonomy for Donbass after Putin installs a puppet to run the region as he sees fit.

But let’s be clear this war is not about negotiation, any more than it’s about the gays or religion. It’s about world domination by an authoritarian, stone-cold killer. While people like Putin often end up in a hole, one way or another-think Hitler, Gadhafi, Hussain-it could take longer than the Ukrainian people have.

Potential Solution

Ironically, Putin’s biggest threat is not the angry mob outside the Kremlin nor the oligarchs shielding his money, but rather the secret police and intelligence division, whom he was once a part of, with their knack for effectively poisoning people. His biggest threat comes from within, and he knows it.

While we wait for someone to take him out, in a world filled with hypotheticals, I’ve been asking myself- if the planes Ukraine needs are sitting right next door in Poland, why they just don’t send Ukrainian fighter pilots into Poland to fly them out. Wouldn’t that be easier and faster than trying to figure out how to transport them over land?

Few Good Answers

Last, but not least, I must assume that if it wasn’t for the fact Russia has more nuclear bombs than we do, America would have learned from its’ history and not be sitting back watching an entire country being obliterated, until the war washes up on our shores like we did in World War II. So many questions and so few good answers. All I know is, if it were up to the gays war wouldn’t have started in the first place.

Thanks for stopping by.
